If you have friends or family members who work in the technology world, then you know how jam packed their schedules are! That was the case for Jimmy and Soo Mee, one is busy working in the tech industry while the other is a really talented abstract painter. I like to call this shoot the “it’ll happen when it happens” session. Soo Mee had been dreaming of a destination engagement session for quite some time, and had everything organized and scheduled months in advance. Due to some matters that called them back home, we had to reschedule at the last minute and get creative with our time and booking.
Flashforward a few months later, the two flew back to Oahu just for the shoot!! We had about 40 hours total to work with- so we got creative, especially since mother nature decided to have an island wide rainstorm during their limited time here. (Absolutely no pressure at all, am I right!?) We had to cut our first day short due to torrential downpour and plan to meet again the next morning, despite the forecast saying it would be rainy again. Turns out, one of us deserved some good karma because the next morning was an absolute DREAM! So sunny with beautiful blue skies. Soo Mee and Jimmy were amazing to work with! They were very trusting with all the location and time changes due to the weather. An amazing couple to collaborate with despite less than ideal circumstances. Their love for each other is pure and genuine and it shows through in their pictures!
Destination Engagement Venue Details
Regardless of the crazy itinerary, I was able to capture this destination engagement session at the stunning location, Dillingham Ranch in Waialua, Hawaii. This adorable venue gives the perfect off the beaten path tropical look which matched the entire vibe of this couple’s shoot. The palm trees paired with the dirt road and Oahu’s mountains in the back are an absolute dream! I couldn’t be more grateful that despite venue changes, timing, and weather, we were able to cooperate with the circumstances and make this destination engagement come to life!
